During the last term, we have been busy getting ready for our upcoming 10 year anniversary concert but we managed to squeeze two performances in:
- Choir Eisteddfod at the Castlemaine Town Hall
- Daffodil Festival Kyneton Pop-Up performance
Both of these events were lovely and really brought a lot of joy to so many people. Our performance at the Eisteddfod helped organisers raise $2400 for our community radio station 94.9 MainFM. Well done and thank you to everyone involved!

As you all know our 2025 10 year anniversary concert is looming! We had our first 'all together' rehearsal on Tuesday night and it really was lovely to bring together all the groups and sing our songs with a larger number. Thank you so much to those who car pooled, brought kids, traveled and juggled to attend.
We had 27 people attend out of 60 which is less than 50% I know it's school holidays so a bit trickier BUT
There are only two more rehearsals all together and it is VERY important that we have everyone there. These rehearsals are actually not about learning parts or practicing - parts should be learnt and lyrics memorised by the next rehearsal. These rehearsals are for;
- balancing parts
- tweaking dynamics
- tuning up and tuning in
- final positions
- perfecting choreo
- timing the show
- meeting and singing with the musicians
- locking in with the singers beside/behind/in front of you
- locking in with your conductor
The proposed dates for rehearsals are FRIDAY 7th November 6-9pm and THURSDAY 20th November 6-9pm. Please prioritise these rehearsals and put them in your NON-NEGOTIABLE calendar ;-)
IF you cannot attend either or both of those rehearsals you need to contact me ASAP to discuss.

NOVEMBER
Saturday 1st: MEERTA Rise Up! The Ballad of James Arden @ The Capital Theatre, Bendigo
"MEERTA tells David’s own story and the story of his Great Grandfather James Arden, and the Gunditjmara People– a story of identity, urban and tribal life, friendship, repatriation, racism, freedom and fighting for your rights. It is a beautiful storyline of original music penned by Arden himself. In the show there is the opportunity for a choir to sing with Dave – given the recent Referendum outcome we feel it is important that we bring mobs together to learn from each other". More information on this opportunity here: https://www.macapella.com/dbpage.php?pg=view&dbase=events&id=300369
Saturday 8th: Castlemaine Kindergarten Fete
This is a favourite annual gig of ours - such a lovely day out for the family.. We obviously have a bit on for November so i've chosen easy songs and warm ups which we will attempt to get the audience involved in. Nothing too hard to remember, books and mistakes allowed :-)
Friday 21st: MaCapella - 10 Years In Harmony!
We are in full swing rehearsing for this event of the year! It is imperative that you practice at home and attend all rehearsals.
TICKETING: There are 60 choir members participating and a total of 218 tickets available for purchase which is 3.6 friends each. At the time of writing there are 150 tickets remaining. We will definitely sell out so tell your special someone not to leave it to the last minute! **If you have a friend or family member who have their RSA and would like a ticket in exchange for working the bar before, during (intermission) and after the show, please reach out!
DECEMBER
Sunday 21st: Bendigo Carols by Candlelight
This gig has had a song change or two, please see the event for more information. We will begin learning these songs immediately after showcase.. it will be a whirlwind!
That’s a Wrap (for Now)!
Thank you once again for everything you bring to choir every week. Your energy, commitment and spirit make all the difference, and it’s a joy to sing alongside you.
I can’t wait to see you all in full flight on stage this term and to celebrate the wonderful things we’ll achieve together.
See you soon!
xx
